How Do I Look in Captain Obvious's Tights?

Judging by the press releases Rep. Tom Allen's staff has been firing into my inbox today, I think it's safe to say Congressman Allen is not a big fan of President Bush's budget.

I've received nine (!) press releases from Congressman Tom Allen today, each with a headline pooh-poohing one aspect of the president's budget or another. Here, for example, are the titles: "Cuts in President's Budget Harm Working Families," "Bush Budget Misses Opportunity to Grow Small Businesses," "Bush Budget Leaves Mainers Out in the Cold," "Clean Air and Clean Water Should Be a Priority, "Heating Assistance and Clean Energy Cut in Bush Budget," "Education and Children: Left Behind by Bush Budget," "Bush Budget Jeopardizes Health Care," "Supporting Veterans Should be the Highest Priority," and "First Responder Programs Cut in Bush Budget."

Considering this story in today's Press Herald and the fact that it had previously taken Congressman Allen more than two months to accumulate nine messages in my inbox, it seems the Senate race between Congressman Allen and Senator Susan Collins is beginning to heat up a bit.
