In the Know

WCLZ 98.9 will be airing a special version of their "Music from 207" show tonight at 7p. The show, which usually airs on Sunday nights from 7-8p, will feature the "10 Maine Bands to Watch" listed in the Press Herald's January 17 edition of GO! and will play the fourteen songs CLZ and PPH writer Stephanie Bouchard think best represent the ten bands. We here at RiverbankRepublic.com, however, are in the know (read: we can surf the Internet) and have featured a sneak listen for our loyal Westbrook Diarist readers. Below is tonight's playlist, in alphabetical order:
  1. Brown Bird, "Run the Wire"
  2. The Cambiata, "Sidestepping versus Splitting Heirs"
  3. Clara Berry, "The Widow's Watch"
  4. Dead Season, "The Thunder Rolls"
  5. Dominic and the Lucid, "Beer Sells, Singles Fade Away" and "Poor Boy"
  6. Hiss & Chambers, "Decay" and "Glory #1"
  7. Jon Call, "Get Down" and "This Song is for You"
  8. Moses Atwood, "Wildflowers" and "Women, Angel, Demon, Child"
  9. Samuel James, "The 'Here Comes Nina' Country-Ragtime Surprise"
  10. Sumner McKane, "You're the Most Charming"

Be sure to tune in tonight to support CLZ, a champion of Maine music.

- John C.L. Morgan

P.S. Speaking of Maine music, we here at Riverbank Republic headquarters are still waiting for the booking of Samuel James and Moses Atwood in Westbrook. C'mon aren't we (and L/A, and SoPo, and any other rehabbed mill town in Maine) supposed to be the next Portland? Well, then, let's start acting like it!

Anyway, that's my motivational speech for the morning. Have a good day.
