Does anyone know why they want to stop PWD from putting fluoride in the water, I thought there where benifts.. Like heatlhier teeth.
Fluoridation Ineffective & Harmful, studies show
Over 2,490 professionals urge the US Congress to stop water fluoridation until Congressional hearings are conducted, citing scientific evidence that fluoridation, long promoted to fight tooth decay, is ineffective and has serious health risks. See statement at FluorideAction.net

A Tennessee State legislator who is also an MD is urging all Tennessee Water Districts to stop fluoridation, reported a Tennessee newspaper on 11/29/08. At least 30 Tennessee water districts have already complied with his request.(6)
Nobel Prize winner, Dr. Arvid Carlsson, says, “Fluoridation is against all principles of modern pharmacology. It's really obsolete.”
Fluoride jeopardizes health - even at low levels deliberately added to public water supplies, according to data presented in a 2006 National Academy of Sciences' (NAS) National Research Council (NRC) report. Fluoride poses risks to the thyroid gland, diabetics, kidney patients, high water drinkers and others and can severely damage children's teeth. The Professionals’ Statement also references:

-- Major research indicating little difference in decay rates between fluoridated and non-fluoridated communities.
-- A Harvard study indicating a possible link between fluoridation and bone cancer.
These people must like bad teeth.

I cannot afford toothpaste as I am poor, and using the computer in the library to read this. You are insensitive. Also, I need the iodine in my salt, so don't take that away from me either.
Don't forget Niacin and other enrichment in your bread. No one wants you to get scurvy.
I hope that I'm not the only one relieved that the case against fluoride has evolved from the government mind control conspiracy of the 1980s to health concerns.
I don't know if it's dangerous or not. I suppose the questions that need to be asked are:
1. Do in-home water filtration systems (Brita, Pur, or house-wide filters) filter fluoride from the water? If so, then the people who sign the petition should do so on a purely financial concern (how much does it cost to add fluoride?).
2. Does the potential harm outweigh the potential benefit?
Ideologues from both sides of the issue will have already made up their minds, but I've read a lot of possibles out there on both sides of the issue.
Without the answers to the above questions I confess that I just don't have an opinion. Hopefully my late entry won't preclude someone enlightening the readers with the answers to the questions (so I don't have to look it up myself if the issue finds its way onto a ballot).

NO THEY DO NOT. ANY CHARCOAL FILTRATION WILL NOT FILTER OUT FLUORIDE. REVERSE OSMOSIS OR DISTILLATION IS THE ONLY WAY TO REMOVE FLUORIDE (OR GET POLITICAL AND GET IT OUT OF THE WATER SUPPLIES) PARDON MY CAPS - JUST TRYING TO DIFFERENTIATE YOUR QUESTIONS FROM MY ANSWERS.
BESIDES FLUORIDE WILL STILL BE INHALED IN SHOWERS AND ABSORBED IN BATHS. AND UNLESS YOU USE BOTTLED WATER TO MAKE PASTA, RICE, SOUPS, GRAVIES, ETC, YOU'LL GET YOUR DAILY DOSE IN OTHER PLACES THAN JUST YOUR TAP.
2. Does the potential harm outweigh the potential benefit?
SINCE MODERN SCIENCE SHOWS THAT INGESTED FLUORIDE DOES NOT REDUCE TOOTH DECAY, THE QUESTION IS MOOT. IT'S ONLY POLITICS THAT KEEPS FLUORIDATION GOING.

ACTUALLY, THERE IS ONLY ONE SIDE - SCIENCE - WHICH TELLS US THAT FLUORIDATION IS NOT STOPPING TOOTH DECAY AND IS HARMFUL TO SOME PEOPLE.
FLUORIDATIONISTS JUST EXPECT YOU TO BELIEVE THEM AND NOT CHECK OUT THEIR SCIENCE BECAUSE FLUORIDATION HAS NEVER BEEN SUPPORTED WITH VALID SCIENCE.

IT'S UNDERSTANDABLE THAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR INTEREST TO STUDY THIS ISSUE (AND PROBABLY A MILLION MORE CONTROVERSIAL SUBECTS) SO OFTEN THEY WILL SIMPLY ASK THEIR DENTIST - WHO HAS BEEN TRAINED TO TELL YOU FLUORIDE IS GOOD. HE OR SHE THINKS THE SCIENCE SUPPORTS THEM. BUT THEY MUST SPEND THEIR TIME KEEPING UP ON THE NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN DENTISTRY, KEEPING THEIR BUSINESS AFLOAT AND DOING THEIR JOBS. THE RARE DENTISTS WHO ACTUALLY LOOK AT THE SCIENCE DISCOVER THEY HAVE BEEN DUPED INTO BEING THE FLUORIDE SALESPEOPLE FOR THEIR UNIONS SUCH AS THE AMERICAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION WHICH IS HEAVILY FUNDED BY THE CORPORATIONS WHO PROFIT FROM TOOTH DECAY.
