According to the state's Government Ethics & Election Practice's website, the Political Action Committee (PAC) dubbed the Keep Maine Moving Coalition was the big winner in political contributions from Westbrook in 2007. Keep Maine Moving, a PAC formed to lobby the public for the passage of a transportation bond on June 12, received $19,750 from Westbrook businesses. The contributing companies were CCB, Inc.; Chadwick-BaRoss Inc.; HNTB Corporation; Pike Industries; and White Bros Inc. Most of the contributions were made in late May and early June. And, according to the Bangor Daily News, the bond was passed (with seventy-eight percent of the precincts reporting), 71.7% to 28.3%.
The two largest political contributors from Westbrook in 2007 were HNTB Corporation and Pike Industries. HNTB's sole contribution was $7,500 to the Keep Maine Moving Coalition on May 21, but Pike's contributions were more diverse. Pike contributed $100 to the Diamond PAC, a PAC linked with State Senator Bill Diamond (D-Cumberland); $250 to the Maine Senate Republican Victory Fund; $6,000 to the Keep Maine Moving Coalition; and $1,000 to the Maine Republican Party.
There were no direct contributions to political candidates from Westbrook reported in 2007. The full list of contributions can be found here.
