Election '10: Charter Commission Narrowly Approved; School Budget, Budget Process Pass Easily

Westbrook voters very narrowly approved the formation of a City Charter Commission and let out a loud "ayuh" to both the FY 2010-2011 school budget and the annual budget approval process. The results are below:

City Charter Commission
Yes: 1,349 (50.1%)
No: 1,343 (49.9%)

FY 2010-2011 School Budget
Yes: 1,985 (71%)
No: 809 (29%)

Annual Referendum Vote to Approve School Budget
Yes: 2,255 (80%)
No: 561 (20%)

After six years of the former mayor road blocking and stalling, the citizens of Westbrook chose to establish a Charter Commission. It's amazing what progress can be made when you trust people to make decisions.
