The above is Waldo Pierce's mural, "Woodsmen in the Woods of Maine." Housed in the Maine Art room of the Portland Museum of Art, the mural was relocated to the museum (with the original door) from the old Westbrook Post Office in 1980. Pierce, an artist born in Bangor, completed the work in 1937 with funding from the U.S. Treasury Department.
Other Maine artists displayed in the Maine Art section of the Portland Museum of Art are George Bellows, Robert Henri, Rockwell Kent, Andrew Wyeth, N.C. Wyeth, Marguerite Zorach, and William Zorach.
