Attention Aspiring Ornithologists

A snow goose was spotted in a field on Pride Street on April 9, via the Maine Bird Alert service.

However, since I haven't followed through on my June 2008 self-reminder to study up on flying flocks of feather, please don't ask me the significance of this find. Perhaps a, uh, bird-brained reader can help out.

John, I wonder if that is not the partner to the lone snow goose who lives downtown on the Presumpscot ... there used to be a pair of them hanging around Riverbank Park, then suddenly this past fall and winter there was only one. We wondered if the other had been taken by the foxes under the boardwalk, or some other nefarious predator, because we've only seen one for quite a while now. Or maybe the one on Pride Street is the lone goose, searching for its lost mate? If there are still two I hope they find each other. :(

And my readers come through again. Thanks, Liz, for adding some depth to an otherwise shallow post.
