The Westbrook School Committee's creation of a $49,000-per-year position for a laptop-related job at the high school highlighted the fact that the State of Maine's expansion of the laptop program comes with strings--and local budget implications--attached. (March 31)

The Westbrook School Committee's budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal year includes about a dozen job cuts, only one of which would include a layoff. (April 2)
