Did you know Warren Block--the John Calvin Stevens-designed building sandwich between Main Street and Cumberland Street--once housed a gymnasium on the second floor?
Referred to as "the cradle of Westbrook High School basketball power" in one newspaper account, the Cumberland Gym was operated by the Cornelia Warren Association from 1904 until 1973, when it was closed for financial reasons.
Twenty-eight of the old gym's leather-seated chairs can be found at the Westbrook Historical Society.
