Lobster as Pork

Here's your random fact of the day: The University of Maine's Maine Lobster Institute was lumped with the infamous Woodstock Museum as an example of one candidate's support for wasteful pork-barrel spending during a gubernatorial debate yesterday in, of all places, Missouri (excuse me, Missourah).

So much for some brotherly love from our sister state.

While at the University of Maine in the early 1990's I knew an Engineering Tech instructor that was part of some projects with this group. One day I happened into his office and he was working on methods to electrocute lobsters before cooking. You know, finding a more humane way to kill the lobster.

Anyway after watching how lobsters react to being electrocuted, I still believe that the best and most humane way to kill a lobster is head first into a pot.
