City officials gathered early this morning for a- John C.L. Morgan
ceremony launching the construction of three homes for Habitat for Humanity of
Greater Portland. Former Mayor Bruce Chuluda cut the ribbon to the site on
Bremen Street around 6:30 a.m., along with Mayor Colleen Hilton, City
Administrator Jerre Bryant, and City Councilors Michael Foley and Paul Emery.
Workers from Porter Panel and Truss in Portland began constructing the three
homes at 7 a.m. for Habitat's first of its kind initiative to build steel homes
for low-income families.
