About a dozen Westbrook residents and business- John C.L. Morgan
owners met with Department of Environmental Protection officials Wednesday
night, asking if Pike Industries can continue to blast at its Spring Street
quarry, will people be exposed to a toxic chemical trichloroethylene? "Before we
were worried about dust, quality of life, property values. Now, I'm worried if
this chemical goes toward the quarry, if they're blasting it, is it going to go
in the air? Really, what's going to happen?" said Tim Bachelder, of
Westbrook.
